When It Comes to Bedding, “Don’t Throw Out the Baby with the Bath Water!”
If your nylons had a run, would you throw them out? That all depends on the look you’re after. When it comes to girls bedding, a little rip doesn’t usually count for style. But sometimes, you just gotta work with what you’ve got.
I always thought that was an odd expression. Now why would anyone throw out the baby with the bath water? A little light research into its origin revealed some pretty unsavory explanations but, basically, it means you should buy lots of fresh bedding for your little one so this accident never happens. Alright, well, maybe not exactly.
It CAN mean that if you’re the fortunate recipient of a gorgeous hand-me-down girls bedding from your favorite Aunt Bea or Tita Tessa but the bedding set is looking just a wee bit dated, try throwing in a deluxe pillow to give the bedding set a fresh flair. And I have the perfect suggestion.
Ta-da! Caden Lane’s Modern Vintage Collection, so aptly named, and absolutely beautiful. Deftly blending new patterns with familiar ones from the past, the end result evokes richness, culture and nostalgia with a modern twist. Just check out this square girls bedding pillow. Don’t you just want to touch the soft velvet with your fingers? And don’t tell me the brown cord piping and geometric fabric pattern doesn’t remind you of grandpa’s slippers or jammies. Batik! That’s it. Originally, I was thinking the pattern on this set was a nod to India but I’m just realizing so, too, for Indonesia. Très chic. Très exotique!
Anyway, I liked it so much, I ordered a full size set for myself, perfect for my pop-up air bed that’s oh-so-handy for guests. After all, how else to over deliver on an air bed promise? Now guess who’s coming to… visit? Oh, what the heck, dinner, too.
I can’t wait …
